Critique

 

Thank you to Southern Counties for inviting me to Judge, and thanks to the exhibitors for their support. It has been almost 3 years since I last judged the breed, so of course I had not seen the majority of the exhibits.

My report is focusing on the positive attributes and not the

negatives of my entries, but I do have some concerns regarding  movement.

 

 

Minor Puppy Dog  (5 , 1)

1st Hudson & Steele’s – Sharlana Elvis

A very smart compact 8 month old b/w puppy. Good head and expression. Nice Eye. Lovely outline. Moved well.

 

2nd Wallhead ‘s– Sleepyhollow Lester at Merida

A larger 9 month old b/w. Also had a good head and eye. Nice body for age. More mature than 1 but was unsettled on the day.

 

3rd. White’s – Paltemoor Prince Zazuki

 

Puppy Dog (6, 0)

1st Thomas’s – Javalcy Rock on Tommy.

This 10 month old b/w boy took my eye when he entered the ring.

I was not disappointed when I went over him. Super head and expression, correct eyes, good body and topline. Good coat for age. Delighted to award him Best Puppy in Breed.

 

2nd Reeves Sargant & Diment’s – Alstella Pure Gold.

This 11 month old r/w is typical example from this long established kennel. Mature masculine head but with a soft expression. Wide in chest with cobby body. Nice silky straight coat. Moved soundly.

 

3rd Dopson’s – Godheim Nashville at Jalindri.

 

 

Junior Dog  ( 3, 0)

 

1st Vincent’s -Yama Teddy Edward.

A typical Yama Chin. Good head and eye with nice ear setting.

Nice and square with a cobby body. Correct tail set. Moved well

in both directions. Beautifully presented.

 

2nd.  Hudson & Steele’s – Sharlana Divine at Threadgold.

Beautiful head. Muzzle was short, wide and well cushioned. Body slightly longer that my winner. Movement was good.

 

3rd  Vincent & Speight’s – Bonniroy Yumi at Yama

 

Post Graduate Dog. ( 9, 1)

A quality class. Wish I could have awarded three 1sts.

 

1st Tong’s – Sleepyhollow Rheingold

What a superb sable. Head a beautiful size and shape . Large dark eyes, showing correct white of eye. Nice size and shape, good topline and correct tail set. Moved well in both directions. Pressed hard in the challenge.

2nd Davidson’s – Omikudzi Don Juan at Sharlarna

a beautiful presented r/w . slightly daintier than my winner.

Loved his head and expression.  Good topline and correct tailset.

Movement was good in both directions. Just preferred the body of 1.

3rd  Allock’s  – Sleepyhollow Olaf.

 

 

Limit Dog (11, 3)

My first 3 were so similar in type.

 

1st George’s – Yama I’m Kimi Amronchi

Good head and expression, moderate neck and level topline and good tail set. Lovely coat of correct texture. Super front. Moved well.

2nd  Blow & Allen’s – Wyndcatch Take It Easy

another quality dog. Slightly smaller than my winner with a square

compact body. Again a lovely head and expression. Just preferred the front of my winner. 

3rd. Reeves Sargant & Diment’s – Vouges Roiyaru.

 

Open Dog ( 8,0)

 

1st  Allcock’s – CH Sleepyhollow Robson JW SCHM

What can I say about this outstanding dog that has not already been said. Loved everything about him.  His head, eyes and expression were wonderful. Nice bone not to fine. Level topline and correct tail set. Movement in both directions was exceptional . Coat was of the correct texture. Presentation was first class. Delighted to award him the CC and Best of Breed. Pleased to learn he was awarded group 3. He is a wonderful ambassador for our breed.

2nd Davidson’s – Ch Hysterical Samurai Sou at Sharlarna

Another quality dog .Presented to perfection. Couldn’t believe he was 6.5 years of age.

Lovely head with soft expression and beautiful eyes.

Again a lovely size with correct bone. Nice and square with good body. Correct tail set. Moved well in both directions. RCC

3rd Flynn ‘s– Choya Kanayo of Linjato

 

 

Veteran Dog/Bitch ( 3 ,1)

Firstly may I congratulate the owners of these two veterans.

There condition was excellent.

1st  Pearce & Hann’s – Stepheter Wanna Shout for Rakuchin

This b/w 8 years old bitch gets better with age. Lovely feminine head and expression, nice bone and good body. Moved very well in both directions. Delighted to hear that she had won the Toy Veteran class 

2nd  Bailey’s – Pochinka Edward Bear at Aldoricka

This was a lovely 10 year old b/w male. He has a love masculine head

With a nice expression. Still has a good body and topline. Just lost out to youth.

 

Good Citizen Dog Scheme Dog/Bitch ( 2 ,1)

1st  Doran’s – Shardlow Mikado.

 

Minor Puppy Bitch (4, 0.)

A nice class. Not much separated the first two

1st Banks – Damheadbrigg Kimiko of Choya

A quality 8 month old b/w . Good head with a sweet expression and lovely eyes. She was well marked. Good body for age and kept her topline whilst on the move.

2nd Hudson & Steele’s – Sharlarna Make my day at Threadgold.

Another quality baby. Good size for age with lovely head. Body maturing well. Was a little unsettled on the move.

3rd Cushing’s – Umikudzi Florentina at Spiritisle.

 

Puppy Bitch ( 5 , 0)

 

1st Banks – Choya Desiree

Similar to her kennel mate in the previous class, but more mature

Once again had a lovely head with good expression. Nice coat 

Showed well.

2nd. Thomas’s – Corrinwood Colour my World

A lighter marked bitch that just lacked a little confidence today.

Good size and bone. Feminine head and expression. Moderate neck and level topline with good tailset. Just didn’t move as well as my 1st

3rd  Pearce & Hann’s – Rakuchin Ring Rumour.

 

Junior Bitch (5 ,1)

 

1st  Leach’s – Ouzlewell”s Aimi 

A nice sized bitch with fine bone. Good head and eye. Sweet expression. Moved well.

2nd.  Quinn’s – Sharlarna Miss Fame at Harlouville

Slightly longer in the back than my winner, and lighter marked. Nice head, good ear set. Well plumed tail, over level topline. 

3rd.  Speight’s – Bonniroy Yanina Aka

 

Post Graduate Bitch (5 ,1)

Very close decision between 1st and 2nd.

1st  Vincent’s. – Yama Paper Lace

A well bodied bitch , nice and square. Had a pretty head. Level topline. Good front and rear. 

2nd . Evans – Jonsville Secret Smile at Evansly

Another quality Bitch. Very similar to my winner. Lovely expression

Just preferred the front on my winner.

3rd. Wallhead’s – Choya Carolina

 

Limit Bitch (10 ,2)

What a lovely class of quality bitches to judge. I’m sure the first 3 will change places many times

1st Rose’s – Fluffy Fantasy Eri at Rossyn

A nice sized bitch , with feminine head and expression. Correct tail set, with lovely plume which laid over a level top line. Moved well

2nd Crane’s. – Sleepyhollow Mary Poppins JW

A beautiful bitch, slightly longer in the back than my winner

Oozed quality, and confidence. First class presentation. 

3rd. Vincent’s – Yama Aurora.

 

Open Bitch (6 ,1)

Best bitch class of the day. Such a pleasure to go over these quality girls

1st Allcock ‘s– Sleepyhollow Mimi

The only thing I would change about this bitch is her size. Would like her slightly bigger, but such quality. Superb head, eyes and expression. Lovely shape, firm topline, and correct tail set. Her coat was straight and silky. Presented to perfection.

My word could she move, covered the ground with ease. 

Was delighted to award her the CC. Was told later this was her 3rd.

What a worthy champion she is

2nd Wallhead’s- Ch Kochou”s Rita-Haywooth Sleepyhollow

A r/w . with a nice large head, nice nose placement and good ear set. She had a compact body with  with level topline and excellent tailset.

Moved well.

3rd  Pearce & Hann ‘s– Yama Moonlight over Rakuchin.
