Critique

I was delighted to be asked to judge the UK Toydog CH show and thank the Secretary and the Committee for the invitation. Many thanks for the wonderful hospitality I received and also many thanks to the exhibitors for the lovely entry.

I found that, apart from my main winners, most of the quality was in the lower classes and whilst this is disappointing, it bodes well for the future of the breed.  My main concern was that quite a number of the exhibits were very short in the leg which completely spoils the balance of the dog as well as affecting their movement. The old saying that a dog that is made well moves well is as true today as it always was. My only other criticism is that we have too many Chins who lack spring of rib. ‘Dainty’ should not be interpreted as ‘lacking in substance’. Having said this, nearly all the exhibits were well presented.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG OR BITCH (4) – two absent

1st– Mrs Day’s Aleemia Ghisha Girl – Well up to size but very well balanced, very sound in construction, moved well.

VETERAN DOG (1)

1st–  Mrs Quinn’s Dekobras Bring me Sunshine – 7 year old dog in good condition with profuse coat which was well presented. A little uncertain of his surroundings but a sound dog who gained in confidence as the day progressed.
