Critique
It was an honour to be invited to judge at UK Toy as my first CC appointment. I was delighted with my entry and my thanks go to the exhibitors, committee and very able stewards Sheila and George.
I was disappointed to find some dogs lacking in body and muscle tone, which is evident when on the move, but I was pleased with my main winners. Unfortunately, some dogs that would have placed higher had to go without due to not being very happy on the day. Delighted to see by BOB go onto take RBIS.
SBD/B (2,1)
1st: 756 Harbron’s Jaschin Stop And Paws. Large dark eye with white showing giving correct expression. Good cushioning to muzzle. Good body with spring of rib, level topline and high set tail. Moved out well in profile.
VD (2,0)
1st: Pearce & Hann Ch Rakuchin Kenji Na. This dog presents the most beautiful of outlines on the stand. Lovely reach of neck leading into well laid shoulders, short back with level topline and plumed tail held high over back, fine boned. Presented in lovely coat and condition. Masculine head with well cushioned muzzle and dark eye. Unfortunately not the happiest to move today which prevented him from further contention in the male challege. BVIB.
2nd: Mcfarlane’s Myojo Morgan shcm. Different type from one but a lot to like. Masculine head with good cushioning. Short in back with good ribs giving him that required cobbiness. Moved out well.
MPD (4,2)
1st: 792 Young’s Craimose Classy Tiger. Very raw baby at his first show but enjoying his day out. Large dark eye with required white. Good body starting to develop. Short in back and a good bend of stifle. Nice coat starting to develop. BPD.
2nd: 742 Clarke’s Tismechi Natus. Another real baby who was not keen to walk in the hall. Smaller boy with good expression, fine boned, straight front, hare feet. Body starting to develop but needs time.
JD (4,0) A very nice class but of all different types.
1st: Rooney & Green Jaschin Hold That Thought. My star of the day. At 12.5 months he still has maturing to do but everything is there. A good size. Beautiful head with required expression, dark eye and well placed nose. Good reach of neck, straight front with width to his chest, good rib cage developing, level topline with high set tail held over the back at all times. Well angled rear. Coat at the stage it can make him appear longer than he actually is. Moved with some style. He stood out to me in the challenge to take the DCC & later BOB. Will watch his progress with interest.
2nd: Davidson’s Sharlarna Gigolo. Lovely shape in profile on the stand. Well balanced and nice to go over. Beautiful head with good cushioning. Good reach of neck and straight front. Level topline with high set tail. Silky well presented coat. Fine boned. Was making things difficult for his handler on the move today but I am sure another that will finish at the top.
3rd: Thomas Threadgold Dan Dare At Javalcy
PGD(5,3)
Difficult to split here. 1st: VINCENT Cholas Yasu At Yama. Masculine head with good cushioning. Coat coming back in. Very square and “cobby” dog. Would like more neck, Moved well with a good rear.
2nd: Pearson’s Ereste's RAFFLES EXCLUSIVE. Slightly longer dog but in lovely coat. Not happy today which was evident on the move which was a shame as a lot to like. Good head with dark eye, good reach of neck, straight front and decent body.
LD (8,1)
1st: Martin’s Sharlarna Trouble Maker. Eye-catching male, presented in lovely condition and good coat. Well balanced dog with good angles fore and aft. Nice to go over with a good rib cage and cobby body. Rounded skull and large dark eyes. Moved lovely in profile around the ring to take the class. He was losing attention in the challenge. RCC. I am sure he will go on to gain his title.
2nd: CAYTON Sharlarna Imperial Comanda. Another lovely boy to go over on the table with a lot to appreciate. Preferred the head of 1 but he has the required dark eye and expression. He has a good front with required width and depth. Sqaure in outline, level topline and high set tail. Showed and moved well. Well presented coat.
3rd: FLYNN SHARLARNA EVOLUTION AT LINJATO
OD (4,1)
1st: DAVIDSON Stepheter Constant Contact. Happy, lively dog. Scores in head, dark eye with enough white showing, well rounded skull, good cushioning to muzzle and well placed nose. He is square, fine boned and has typical hare feet. Good reach of neck leading into straight front. Holds a lovely shape in profile moving around the ring. 2nd: THOMAS Ch Javalcy The Great Mikado. Can easily see why this boy is also a champion. A lot to like but unfortunately was not the happiest which cost him. He too has a nice head. I really like the profile shape of this dog as he is super square, good reach of neck with a lovely plumed tail. Good angles fore and aft and has good body on him.
3rd: Farmer’s Ch Sangria Moonwalk
VB (2,0)
1st: Paradise’s Shardlow Knickerboka Glory Sh.CM VW. 11 year old bitch who defies her age. She showed very well in the class but as the day progressed started to lose her tail which is understandable. Well put together bitch, compact and cobby with good front and well contructed rear. Sqaure in outline, pretty head and expression. Moved well in all ways.
2nd: Speight’s Bonniroy Yasafii. 12 years old and again does not look her age. Sqaure in outline and short coupled, good width of chest. Fine boned legs with hare feet with “paint brush” feathering.
MPB (3,1)
1st: 760 Lindley’s Sharlarna Conchita For Meglind. Pretty head and expression, dark eye with required white. She has fine bone and hare feet. Good reach of neck with good layback of shoulder and width to front developing. Would like her slightly shorter in back. Well angled rear. Should have a good coat. Unfortunately not the happiest in the venue today.
2nd: 741 Clarke’s Tismechi Sunshine Orchid. Another real baby. From a smaller mould than 1 and not the happiest to move. Good angles fore and aft. Pretty head and eye. High set tail.
PB (3,0)
1st: Burn’s Yakedo Irises. Smart puppy with a lot to like. Nicely constructed throughout with good angles. She has the prettiest of heads, dark eye, required white and “bubblegum” cheeks. Sqaure in outline, high set tail with good rib cage giving her required cobby appearance. Good coat developing although would prefer it clearer. Shows very well and moves out nicely in all directions. Never stopped showing for her handler. BPIB.
2nd: Calvert’s Somergemz Balenciaga. This bitch’s head for me is super pretty. Large eye with white showing, good nose placement and nice cushioning. She is very elegant and I like her shape with lovely reach of neck. Sqaure in outline and fine boned. Give’s a lot away in maturity and still a little bit loose in front but should come with maturity.
3rd: Pearson’s Ereste Wildchild
JB (8,2) Class of nice bitches but of different types. I always find junior a funny stage especially for bitches. The first two could change places on another day.
1st: Quinn’s Sharlarna Eye Candy. Very pretty bitch of a nice size. Large dark eye with white showing. Straight front with width to chest developing. Sqaure as they come and good rib developing. Moves out well in profile holding her shape. Out of coat as would expect in junior.
2nd: Steele’s. Threadgold Starstruck JW. Another very useful bitch to have. Slightly longer than 1 at the moment but a lot to like. Well constructed front and rear which is evident on the move as she strides out well. Presented in good body and condition, good rib cage and width to chest. Coat developing nicely as well.
3rd: Farmers’ Sangria Moon Dance (NAF)
PGB (4,0)
1st: Farmer’s Sharlarna Trinity. Very pretty little bitch with nice expression. Moderate neck leading into straight front. Level topline and high set tail. Would like her a little shorter in back. Coat starting to come and body developing. Showed very well.
2nd: Pearce & Hann Rakuchin Queen of D'Nile. Nice size and bone. Another with a pretty head, large dark eye with white showig giving “astonished” expression. Good angles fore and aft. Slighty bum high at the moment. Moved OK.
3rd: Cushing’s Mrs J Spiritisle Fairy Magic
LB (5,0)
1st: Cayton’s Sharlarna Temptress. “Small, square and pretty” there is a lot to like about this bitch. Lovely to go over on the table with straight front, good width of chest and nice spring of rib. Short coupled and level topline. Pretty head with dark eye. She moved out well. Flagged in the challenge.
2nd: Calvert’s Jaschin Fendi with Somergemz. Again a lot to like. Slightly larger bitch than 1. Lovely shape. Sqaure in outline with reach of neck, well laid shoulders, level topline and high set tail. Well made rear and moves out well although slightly loose in front she is only just out of junior so I am sure this will come with maturity. Coat developing nicely. Should have a bright future.
3rd: Young’s Craimose Touch Of Class
SpOB(R/W) (2)
1st: Cushing’s Ennistar's Niagara At Spiritisle. Large head with well rounded skull with dark eye showing required white. She is a nice shape, moderate neck, square in outline, level topline and high set tail. Feathered, hare feet. Not the happiest today.
2nd: Speight’s Bonniroy Yorie Aka. Slightly longer than 1. Feminine head with good eye and expression. Good reach of neck, good spring of rib. Well angled rear.
OB (5)
1st: Oatridge Sleepyhollow Peace Flower At Dalehouse. A bitch that is very hard to fault. An “honest bitch” there is nothing flashy about her, but she is superbly balanced and sound. One of those that needs to be judged to be appreciated. Dark eye with required white and well cushioned muzzle. Good reach of neck, well constructed front and rear. In superb body, good width to chest and square. She moves out well in all directions. BCC.
2nd: Rooney & Green’s Ch JASCHIN FIRST Edition. I have always admired this bitch and gave her BPIS last time I judged. She has fulfilled her early potential. Pretty head. Small, square and cobby. Good reach of neck leading into well laid back shoudlers. Nicely constructed rear. Very showy and moves out very well. Moving a little wide in front today which gave the nod to 1. RCC and could change places on another day.
3rd: Rooney & Green’s Jaschin Paws For Applause
