Critique

Thank you to all exhibitors for my most enjoyable entry of beautifully presented charming dogs, every one of which was so sweet-tempered and eager to please. Although the date was that of mid-summer, our day of the show was more like the start of winter with lowering skies and sudden blasts of cold wind, the latter not producing the best of conditions for the breed. Some were almost literally blown around the ring with their beautiful fringing acting like sails!

MPD 3 1 1. Reeves-Sargant & Diment’s Alstella Eadweard. 8 months, well balanced and such a very good mover for his age, in lovely silky coat. Well shaped head with good pigment and finish to foreface, charming expression, showing typical white of eye. Good shoulders, quarters and width of chest. 2. Vincent’s Midwood Master Tailor. Same age and a touch firmer on elbow. He moved well during the few steps he chose to take with any sort of steadiness. Darkest of eyes showing that touch of white in the corners. Just needs a bit more body and practice how to make the best of himself in the ring.

PD 4 1 1. Quinn’s Sharlarna Swindler. 10 months with the wow factor. Beautiful head with good finish to foreface and bright alert expression. Lovely for size and type, so well balanced and conformed with good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, hare feet, wide chest and good spring of rib with well set and carried tail. This all leading to the excellence of his movement, being stylish and energetic with good reach in profile holding his topline. Surely one for the top. BP & RCC. 2. Steele’s Spindulys Zephyr at Threadgold (Imp Liu) Same age. A joyful happy character, chock full of bounce, obviously enjoying himself to the full. Just a touch longer in loin than the winner. Dark expressive eyes, hare feet, good tailset and carriage. He moved well covering ground in sidegait. 3. Kannagara’s Sangria PS I Love You

JD 2 0 1. Young’s Kirdanchi Moves Like Jagger. 16 months, with lovely head and darkest of eye, so good for size, type, make and shape with good firm front. A hard decision with this one, just scoring on mouth. He went beautifully with good reach in profile, in excellent coat and hard muscular condition. 2. Rooney & Green’s Ch Jaschin Hold That Thought. So well balanced being smart aristocratic and cobby with good width to his chest. A pleasure to handle being so well made all through and moved to match with great happiness and enthusiasm.

PGD 3 1 1. Farmer’s Sangria De Ja Vous. 4 years old in splendid mature silky coat with the most beautiful hare feet, these being emphasised with glamorous feathering. Dark eye with bright intelligent expression. Well balanced with good cobby body and width of chest. Well made all through being firm on elbow with good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle. He moved well. A happy character with non-stop wagging tail. CC, his first. 2. Vincent’s Cholas Yasu at Yama. 3 years old in hard muscular condition, Lovely head, eye and expression with large open nostrils. Well laid shoulder and good turn of stifle, well set and carried tail. Just a little longer in loin than the winner.

LD 3 1 1. Farmer’s Sangria Dali by Sangria. 3 years old, well balanced and cobby where he scored, in the best of coat and hard condition. Showing white of eye with good wide healthy nostrils. So good for make, shape, size and type with hare feet and good breadth of chest, firm front, good layback of shoulder and spring of rib. 2. Flynn’s Sharlana Evolution at Linjato 2 years old in excellent mature silky coat and hard muscular condition, showing a typical touch of white in the corners of his eyes, good finish to foreface with wide healthy nostrils.

OD 3 1. Farmer’s Ch Sangria Moon Walk. 4 years old, so well balanced, of lovely size, type, make and shape, in full mature coat and hard condition. Well laid shoulder and good turn of stifle, typical hare feet. Constantly alert, good steady mover. When it came to the final challenge he was not as happy with his new handler and refused to give of his earlier best. 2. Evans’ Evansly Emoji. Larger type 5 year old in fully mature coat, in hard muscular condition with well shaped hare feet. He moved with great soundness, enthusiasm and speed. A great character with the most charming expression of disapproval with of the sudden blast of wind that almost literally blew him around the ring. He made me smile.

VD 1 1. Burden’s Leonore Sangria War Lord. 7 years old with a neat spot on the centre of his head, in the best of coat and hard condition. Dark expressive eyes and good finish to foreface, firm at elbow with cobby body. A friendly affectionate character, happy and steady on the move. BV

MPB 2 1 1. Reeves-Sargeant & Diment’s Alstella Glamour Girl. Red sable & white to whom I unashamedly lost my heart. Just 6 months at her first show and quite outstanding in make, shape, size, type and balance along with a beautiful head with an irresistible expression in her dark sparkling eyes, showing a touch of white in their corners. So well made she naturally stands right every time, holding herself with pride on the move and what a marvellous mover she was! Looked as if she knew exactly how it should be done and did it. So close up to the larger green edged cards but a combination of great blasts of wind and a loudly barking Chihuahua at the ringside proved a step too far for her when up against the more experienced class winners. Definitely the one the judge wanted to take home. Surely a star in the making. BPB

JB 1 1. Farmer’s Sangria Moon Dance. Very feminine at 17 months, well balanced with good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle. Good tailset and carriage, can still firm a touch on elbow. A confident steady mover. Most attractive.

PGB 3 1 1. Steele’s Threadgold Starstruck. 20 months old, very elegant and feminine. Pretty head with good finish to foreface, layback of shoulder, level topline and spring of rib. Couold just do with a touch more body to make the best of herself. She moved well. 2. Cushing’s Spiritisle Angel Delight 22 months lemon and white with a charming expression, well laid shoulder and turn of stifle. A very friendly character who moved with enthusiasm if obviously hating the strong wind, refusing to use her tail at first and who could blame her. LB 4 2 1. Quinn’s Sharlarna Eye Candy. 20 months old scoring here on balance with excellent topline, tailset and carriage with good shoulders and quarters, body and spring of rib. Moved steadily covering ground in profile. 2. Cushing’s Spiritisle Fairy Magic. Rich sable of 22 months with excellent pigment and a glamorous spot atop the centre of her feminine head. Good finish to foreface and layback of shoulder with well shaped hare feet. She went well, holding herself with pride.

OB 4 0 1. Rooney & Green’s Ch Jaschin First Edition. This glorious 20 year old came into the ring with the wow factor and never let up for a moment. Simply illustrating the Standard, holding herself with deserved pride being elegant and aristocratic yet compact and cobby, in the best of coat and hard muscular condition, presented to well nigh perfection. A joy to handle with all the parts fitting neatly into the whole, this being proved by the excellence of her energetic stylish movement, covering ground effortlessly in sidegait. Charming head, eye and expression, she obviously enjoyed every moment. CC, apparently her 24th, and BOB. 2. Rooney & Green’s Jaschin Paws for Applause. 3 years with a splendid Cavalier type spot atop her lovely feminine head. Similar in size, type and balance to the winner, dark expressive eyes and good finish to foreface, well shaped hare feet. Happy and energetic on the move, she too went very well 3. Cushing’s Ennistar’s Niagara at Spiritisle

VB 1 1. Scher’s Spirited Away Gillyflower for Kopykats (Imp Pol) 8 years, on the larger side, in huge coat. Rather bulbous in eye but shows that typical white in the corners. Well shaped hare feet. A very steady character, doing her best to please her obviously adoring owner.
