A lovely entry awaited me , it is three years since I last judged so this was the first time I had been over the majority of the entry .In the past I have criticised the poor shelly bodies of the exhibits lacking the  desired cobbyness referred in the breed standard .None of that today I found the breed to be much more uniform  with very few lacking body.

Sadly hare feet seem to be a thing of the past with only a few exceptions 

My only real criticism would be back movement –please please watch it and be aware –several otherwise lovely exhibits lost been placed due to really poor back movement.A Japanese Chin is supposed to display good reach and elevation when moving and no weakness in hind movement .This can only be achieved when both the hindquarters have a good turn of stifle and are straight when viewed from behind .Correct front movement is only achieved when a dog is compactly built with enough width of chest.Lack of width results in the the appearance that both limbs are coming from the same source .A chin that flows around the ring with stylish movement is a joy to behold –as the introductory paragraph to any breed standard states ’absolute soundness is essential ‘

It is my opinion  that the breed is in a very healthy position with lots of exciting youngsters coming up and quite a few of exhitbits in higher classes  am  sure are of sufficient quality to gain their titles .In several classes I really was splitting hairs  and it literally was ‘on the day ‘

1 Ratters  Shatallah Haruto  at Seafar – square dog of nice shape and size , moved so well with positive hind movement .Nice expression and dark eye closely followed by 

2 Quinn’s Dekobras Bring me sunshine Shcm- I have always admired this boy from the ringside,  masculine dog with well shaped skull , shown in lovely condition – just preferred the more compact size of 1 

Both these dogs could still hold their own amongst the younger generation 

Min Puppy D 7-2

1 Ratters  Sleepy hollow Solomon Seafar – happy shower , correct bone , good turn of stifle and moved with desired reach and elevation

2 Banks Choya  Tadashi – I liked this boys broad skull and nicely cushioned muzzle offset by proud head- carriage , a real baby at the moment but so promising  being of lovely type and make up 

3 Cushings Ennistars Katsero Akio at Spritisle

1 Flynn Linjato Kanjirou – attractive youngster who is well bodied of correct proportions  well held top line and good tailset .Moved positively and created an nice outline both on the move and standing 

2 Farmers Sangria Make my Day – one of the few with hare feet !  , fine boned  well proportioned .I liked his expression with good dark eye and nicely cushioned muzzle

Junior D 8-1

1 Thomas Dzhunko De Imperium Auri at Javalcy – of nice size , compact , lovely coat , very good tailset , moved with drive behind – considered him for top honours 

2 Hudson& Steele Sharlarna  Valentino at Threadgold – attractive dog , I loved his expression and overall head properties, proud head carriage , showed with style

1 Reeves Sargants & Diment Alstella Pure Gold – caught my eye on  entering the ring , compactly built and cobby , nice bone , moved with style straight hindquarters and demonstrated good reach .another I considered for top honours 

2 Dopson Godheim Nashville at Jalindri – another lovely boy of nice type , good expression and proud head carriage , good tailset and short back .Unsettled on the move

1 Boyes Choya Alfie Boe to Ellinghurst –elegant dog , loved his head properties wide well shaped skull and broad well cushioned muzzle and correct .Stands foursquare  and moves with precision 

2 Farmers Sangria Private Eye –smaller dog , dark eyes and lovely expression , compactly built with nice llenghth of neck

1 Farmer Midorchi Motivation –I liked this dogs size and compact body and cobby chest .Good nose placement offset with well cushioned muzzle .Moved very well , good turn of stifle .closley followed by 

2 Pearce & Hann Rakuchin  Kenji Na –I was splitting hairs between these two , another lovely exhibit .lovely coat of correct texture , well made body and proportions , he also was a very accurate mover

1 Martin's Lizmela Provocateur  at Sharlarna –this little dog is not over exaggerated in anyway .He is so well balanced and well constructed .At all times he presented a lovely profile and moved so effortlessly round the ring .He has a aristocratic expression with correct eye and nose placement .Presented in pristine condition .Today fought off tough opposition to win CC and BOB –I later learnt that this was his third –congratulations 

2 Schemels  Sharlarna Mirage-I loved this dogs expression  with his beautiful dark eye  , well  shaped and cushioned muzzle , another who really covered the ground well .square shape and good tail placement , in lovely bloom –RCC

1 Cushing Glendyke Magical Pixie Girl at Spritisle- this little lady was not very happy  10mth of age , dainty and of nice bone –hope she gains confidence

1 Banks Choya Tomomi-this baby presented such a nice profile  with level topline , lovely skull and so well balanced on the move .A happy shower 

2 Cranes Cranvarl Truly Scrumptious –dainty bitch of nice bone and good body , promising coat  and good tailset .Just preferred the muzzle of 1 

3 Farmer Sangria Miss Vava Voom

1 Flynn Linjato Kimono-another lovely youngster who won the class on her flowing movement .good bone straight limbed , level topline which she never lost .sweet expression .Feminine little lady .Flowing coat for age.BEST PUPPY IN BREED 

2 Constable Arranbrook  Hastobe at Mitapip –feminine dainty bitch , stylish mover with excellent back movement .Good tailset

1 Vincents  Yama  Here Comes Kitty –I loved this bitches expression and general head properties .Good neck carriage , moved with purpose  and drive .She presents a lovely balanced profile especially when standing –never stopped showing , closely followed by

1 Pearce  & Hann Rakuchin Ring Rumour – bitch of nice size , level topline , good tailset .Correctly Proportion skull and good width to muzzle , moved to advantage 

2 Forth Yama Miss Saigon omegaville –nice head piece with good eye and well set nose feminine expression, compactly built .

Limit B 9-0

1 Oatridges  Dalehouse Iponema –square bitch with nice bone , moved with purpose around the ring with straight hind movement .Good head carriage , good body shape .Very attentive shower she pulled out all stops to win RCC 

2 Pearce & Hann Yama Moonlight over Rakuchin –bulit on clear cut lines, I especially liked her width of skull ,and her nicely cushioned muzzle , another who moved well presenting a good outline  

3 Days Godheim Oklahoma at Dorcharday

1 Wallheads Choya Kinuko at Merida – this bitch is so pretty and feminine  , she is proof that you can still have dainty and cobby in the same package , beautifully constructed with strong hind movement  and  correct stifle meant she moved effortlessly round the ring .Sweetest of expressions with correct eye and well set nose with cushioned muzzle .Could not be denied CC which I learnt later was her magical 3rdcongratulations 

2 Reeves Sargant & Diments Alstella Going for Gold –another lovely bitch who is so well  made .She is not over exaggerated in any way , see from the catalogue that she is dam of the yearling dog winner she was obviously passed on her breed type .good topline and body proportions , dark eye and good muzzle , on the day 1 just had that touch of glamour
