Critique

I was very pleased and grateful for an excellent entry especially on a weekday. There was an unusually high rate of absentees and I only hope that nobody missed their classes due to the extreme volume of traffic. In general the quality was very high and in several classes hairsplitting decisions had to be made and some nice dogs left the ring cardless. I had no concerns from a health point of view and although on examination a small number of dogs had moderately loose knee joints (patella luxation) there was no evidence of lameness but it needs careful watching that this condition is not - literally - slipping back into the wider gene pool. It goes without saying that temperaments were without exception simply wonderful and I met some lovely characters!

MPD 1 Banks' Choya Tadashi.Stylish youngster, scored on his classical head, typical eye, already well filled plush face, slender straight front, body coming nicely, scored in head and topline over. 2 Cushing's Ennistar's Katsero Akio At Spiritisle. Sweet sable boy of good size for age, nice compact shape but needs to body up, eye shows just the right amount of white, confident mover, time is on his side.

PD (6, 3) 1 Flynn's Linjato Kanjirou. Scored in this class on his cobby body and well matured head, wide skull, excellent nose placement, well arched neck, firm short topline, sound quarters, at times a bit apprehensive but showed well when it mattered. 2 Smith & Danks' Glendyke Magical Dream. Not quite as cobby as first, but nicely balanced with good reach of neck, pleasing head with just enough work in it, slightly unfortunate head markings, coat coming nicely, still needs to settle in front, showed with confidence, close decision. 3 White's Palteemoor Prince Kamin.

JD (10, 4) 1 Benton-Taylor's Sansarc Jacobean. Scored in this class on performance, shape and hind action, large head with non exaggerated features, well placed expressive eyes, correct nose placement and sufficient cushioning, fine bone, soundly constructed, impressively sound mover. 2 Thomas' Dzhunko Gin De Imperium Auri At Javalcy. Very mature, ultra square and lovely medium size, classical head with very good cushioning, already shown in full coat, excellent tail-set, very appealling but just not quite the dainty free moving action of first. 3 Matches' Arranbrook Time Lord At Fochai.

YD (2) 1 Young's Sharlarna's Magician. A glamorous boy who reminds me so much  of some of the great Homerbrents of the past, combines elegant daintiness with a sound well constructed body. Head in correct proportion to size with exquisite oriental expression showing just the right amount of white, wonderful neck and topline, presented in well kept almost full coat, one of the best movers of the day, seriously considered for the Res.CC and only lost out on maturity, soon will trouble the best. 2 Leach's Daniel Solechyni Angel. Sable of pleasing medium size, not the biggest but nicely balanced head with sufficient cushioning, nice body and coat coming nicely, still needs to settle in topline, showed and moved well but not quite the panache of first.

ND (3) 1 Flynn's Linjato Issey Miyake. Confident puppy with nicely balanced head, super eye and nose placement, already good cushioning and excellent finish of mouth, very good shape and outline, firm topline, well presented coat, attrachtive markings, moved well and showed with cheeky confidence, BDP. 2 Matches' Arranbrook Time Lord At Fochai. Very pleasing overall type in a compact frame, very pleasing truly Japanese expression, dainty and sound conformation, ok in coat, markings not his fortune, moved with purpose. 3 Moss' Ouzlewell's Artful Dodger Of Delphlands.

GD (3, 2) 1 Hudson & Steele's Sharlarna Valentino At Threadgold. Dainty of pleasing medium size, attractive masculine head with dark well set expressive eyes, good underjaw, fine bone, well-kept coat, showed with confidence.

PGD (7, 3) 1 Potts' Holmchin Out Of The Blue To Adreeam. Scored in this rather mixed class in daintyness, size and expression, he is pretty but at the same time undoubtedly male, scored in eye and finish of lips, hare-feet, shown in excellent well kept coat, free movement. 2 Thomas' Javalcy Rock On Tommy. Built on slightly sturdier but in no way coarse lines, very masculine head with large skull, sufficiently expressive eyes, for my taste a touch lippy, excellent front, cobby body, scored on the move, just preferred slighly softer expression of first but scored in squareness  and size over third. 3 Boyer's Choya Alfie Boe To Ellinghurst.

LD (10, 6) 1 Pearce & Hann's Rakuchin Kenji Na. Traditionally in Chins  there were always two distinct types: one slightly larger and a bit sturdier and the other smaller and  more refined. In the right package both are equally attractive and this sometimes makes it difficult when it comes to placings and one could easily end up  with a line-up which might appear not as even as one would wish for. However, this exquisite boy simply represents the best of both worlds! Dainty but at the same time soundly constructed, refined bone, stands four square with parallel limbs. Head just the  correct size and in harmonious proportion to his body. Plush facial features giving equally soft and oriental expression, short back, extravagantly plumed tail. A glamorous coat and showy attitude finished a most pleasing picture and on the move did not put a foot wrong and was in perfect harmony with his handler. As if his looks were not enough he re-veiled to be of the sweetest most charming temperament, CC and BOB which  I understand will give him his crown. I was obviously delighted to hear that he won a strong Group under Albert Wright, one of the most respected judges in this country. 2 George's Sharlarna The Tempest At Amronchi. Very appealing boy built on slightly sturdier lines but in no way course, equally masculine and distinctive head with good cushioning, sound frame, well-arched neck, firm topline, shown in excellent coat and condition, moved well, unfortunate to meet 1 in such great form. 3 Wallhead's Sleepyhollow Lester At Merida.

OD (9, 1) 1 Martin's Lizamela Provocateur At Sharlarna. One I have admired from the ringside many times, stylish boy and presented in pristine condition, scored on his lovely head, all round and plush, looking  good from all angles, elegant neck, firm topline, fine bone, correct coat texture and shown in full bloom, moved with purpose, a worthy Champion.  Res CC. 2 George's Yama I'm Kimi Amronchi. Built on slightly larger scale, a true glamour boy, wonderful large masculine head, super eye, despite his huge coat, clean  outline with good reach of neck and firm topline, well carried tail, strong hindquarters with sufficient angulation in hocks, moved well but somehow appeared not to give his best on the day. 3 McLeod's Dunline Oh What A Night ShCM.

MPB (3, 1) 1 Banks' Choya Tomomi. Simply exquisite, wonderful square package, already stylish and showy, plush face with correct proportion, expressive non-exaggerated eye, stood four square with straight front, hare feet, sound hindquarters, showed with "look at me" attitude and moved with purpose, certainly one to watch for the future BP. 2 Crane's Cranvarl Truly Scrumptious. Very much a baby but all the essentials there, feminine head of correct proportions, good profile, dainty but firm body, short back, coat coming nicely, showed with confidence, just lost out on maturity.

PB (8, 2) 1 Matches' Godheim Star Spangle Banner At Fochai. Truly feminine with classical Japanese expression, equally cheeky and oriental, just right for age and in no way overdone, excellent neck and topline, dainty but well constructed, moved with attitude. 2 Flynn's Linjato Mishiko. Well matured and although built on slightly longer scale still nicely balanced, excellent wide skull, correct nose-placment, still needs to fill out under muzzle, fine bone, coat coming very nicely, closest decision of the day but preferred slightly shorter back of first. 3 Davidson's Hin Satori Fortuna (Imp).

JB (12, 2) 1 Blow & Allen's Yama Misty Morning. Headed a strong class of very promising young bitches, another one who combined a sturdy body in a refined medium frame. Super head with delightful open facial features, very good cushioning, expressive dark eyes of correct size, stand full-square and never stopped showing, already glamorous coat, attractive even markings and super movement completed very pleasing picture. CC. 2 Oatridge's Dalehouse Kimono. Another quality bitch of correct size and compact frame with dainty bone, very pleasing facial features, correct stop and profile. Correct reach of neck and short back, showed and moved well, unfortunate to meet one in such good form. 3 Rooney & Green's Swifthocks Paws For Thought.

YB (6) 1 Smith's Wyndcatch Constance. Scored in this class with her cobby body, maturity and overall performance, dainty and truly feminine expression, solid but fine bone, excelent short back, presented in wonderful coat of correct texture, moved with purpose. 2 Lindsay's Anjuli Beryl JW. Ultra feminine with the prettiest of faces, still needs some filling, slender bone, a touch longer in loin but still nicely balanced, very nicely presented coat, moved well. 3 Curtis' Aleemai Walk This Way.

NB (3, 1) 1 Matches' Godheim Star Spangle Banner At Fochai. 2 Flynn's Linjato Mimiko. Another one of a seemingly amazing litter with an equally tragic and  heartwarming story behind it, very mature for age, a touch longer in cast but very balanced and stood four square, like her siblings distinctive head and expression, amazing coat for age, very good tail set and carriage, moved well but not quite made the best of herself on the day, another very close decision.

GB (1) 1 Cushing's Omikudzi Florentina At Spiritisle. 18 months and still fairly immature and needs time to body up and gain some more weight and could show with more confidence. However, one can see the potential and everything is there in a medium compact body and she has got a very nicely balanced head with good cushioning, simply needs time.

PGB (8, 3) 1 Forth's Yama Miss Saigon Omegaville. Scored in this class on her elegant classical outline and flawless performance, well proportioned head with pretty feminine expression, excellent cushioning, expressive well placed dark eyes, super neck and topline, lovley coat and scored on the move. 2 Constable's Arranbrook Meant To Be At Mitapip. Attractive cobby frame, nicely balanced head with truly feminine expression, fine bone, short back, firm, sound hindquarters, but at times tends to pace with easily can be corrected.

3 Pearce & Hann's Rakuchin Ring Rumour.

LB (5) 1 Wallhead's Choya Carolina. One I have always admired from the ringside and certainly did not disappoint going over her. Truly feminine with very pleasing open plush face, classical profile, typical eye without the slightest hint of exaggeration, stylish neck and firm short topline, sound hindquarters, she carries a good coat but maybe her furnishings could be a bit more floating, faultless movement, surely her time will come, gave her kennel mate a good running and seriously considered for the Res CC. 2 Oatridge's Dalehouse Iponema. Built slightly longer cast, but very attractive overall picture, scored on her very nicely balanced head, excellent eye and nose placement, super cushioning, straight fine boned front, good hindangulation, excellent coat, moved well, just preferred slightly more compact frame of first. 3 Paradise's Shardlow Kiss Me Sugar Sugar.

OB (6, 1) 1 Wallhead's Choya Kinuko At Merida. Truly feminine glamour girl of classical type. Really refined with nicely balanced head, plush face, very good cushioning, slender front with correct hare feet, firm topline, excellent tail set with spectacular plume, never stopped showing and moved with purpose, in the challenge hair spitting decisions had to be made and by sheer personal taste I preferred the tad plusher face of the young bitch, Res CC. 2 Paradise's Shardlow Knickerboka Glory ShCM. Another quality bitch of highest quality, cobby body in a medium sized frame, nicely balanced head with wide skull, classical profile, equally refined and sturdy, presented in excellent coat and moved well. 3 Lindsay's Sleepyhollow Mavis At Anjuli JW.

VB (2, 1) 1 Pearce & Hann's Ch Stepheter Wanna Shout For Rakuchin. In simply incredible good conditon for age, still wonderful, equally feminine and distinctive expression, topline ok for age and she really pulls all the stops on the move and showed freely with good drive, presented in full glamorous coat, a credit to the owner.
