Best Puppy Ratter’s Thistletop Dick Dastardly at Seafar
I would like to thank Driffield Agricultural Society Championship Dog Show Committee for looking after me so well, my stewards, who were a delight and exhibitors and their dogs for entering under me.
I have not been around the Chin ring recently and I feel I must comment on my perception of the breed at this current time. Overall, I found that dogs seemed to be of a better quality than the bitches. The Japanese Chin should have not have slab sides and unfortunately, I found this on some of the exhibits. Movement requires to be monitored closely - front and rear assemblies and angulation requires to be balanced to promote good construction and sound movement.
Overall, the dogs were very well presented and the majority showed well on the day and I was happy with my winners.
Minor Puppy Dog (9,1abs)
1. Godbehere & Godbehere’s Tillashby Arubato
Beautifully balanced B&W puppy, happy and mischievous with a lovely head and expression. Heavily marked black & white, but nonetheless a very good coat texture, soft and silky. Very good tail set. Moved well, when settled but played up a bit when coming and going. Has potential to develop into a top quality adult if he continues to develop the way he is at present.
2. Leach’s Ouzlewell’s Horoki
Overall, a slightly bigger B&W than 1. Lightly marked black and white. Nice head and expression. Moved well, once he settled.
3. O’Brien’s Ouzlewell’s Akihiko at Nachi
Puppy Dog (4, 0 abs)
1. Ratter’s Thistletop Dick Dastardly at Seafar
A very smart, square compact B&W youngster with good head with correct astonished expression, level top line and a very good tail set. Moves very well in both directions and gaited around the ring like an expert with drive and joie de vivre. Slightly larger than my own personal preference, but nonetheless, a lovely Chin. Delighted to award him: Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy in Breed.
2. Goldie’s Godheim Stars and Stripes puppy.
A very handsome B&W young man, with a lovely expression and excellent nose placement. In good coat t of correct texture Very balanced when standing with a level top line, good tail set. Not just as settled on the move, but still a puppy quality of ideal size.
3. Allcock & Tong’s Sleepyhollow Rhein Gold
Junior Dog (5,1)
1. Farmer’s Sangria Lord Of The Dance
Fabulous young B&W dog, which captured my eye when he walked into the ring exuding quality. Beautiful headpiece with desired look of astonishment. Lovely neck into good
shoulders. Presented to perfection, as one would expect from this kennel. I am sure that this male will have a very bright future and is destined for top honours – just waiting for his coat to come into full bloom. A credit to his breeder. No hesitation in awarding him Res CC.
2. Matches’ Godheim Little Rock at Fochai
Slightly heavier B&W dog all through for me, but has very good breed points which could not be ignored. Typical head with the desired expression. Beautiful, correctly textured coat. Not as confident on the move, which he paid the price for.
3. Daly & Robinson’s Midorchi Poetry In Motion
Yearling Dog (8,1abs)
1. Farmer’s Sangria Riverdancer
This B&W boy has a lovely head with great expression and a well cushioned muzzle. He has a large dark eye, which shows the characteristic look of astonishment. He is cobby in body and maintains a level top line. Correct movement both coming and going and when he is standing, at one with his handler, he creates an impressive balanced profile.
2. Thomas’ Javalcy Nik Nak Paddywack
This B&W dog was well presented with silky coat, square outline. He has a lovely head and sweet expression, with dark eye and correct cushioning. He moved well, although not as confidently as 1.
3. Flynn’s Linjato Kiyoto
Post Graduate Dog (5,1abs)
1. Rhodes & Vincent’s Javalcy Bit Of A Razzle
A well-balanced B&W dog with long silky coat of correct texture, which was in excellent condition and beautifully presented. He has a large head with lovely expression, although would prefer a slightly darker eye to complete the picture for me. He is cobby in body and well-proportioned throughout with correct angulation – moved well in both directions. Handled well.
2. Farmer’s Sangria Back To The Future
Good width in head and muzzle with correct cushioning, correct eye and pleasing expression on this B&W male. Moved well, coming and going, maintaining a level top line at all times.
3. Moss’ Queenslake Billy Bongo of Delphlands
Limit Dog (13, 4 abs)
1. Tonge’s Dalehouse Elements Of Elgar Jackonas
This B&W dog filled my eye on entering the ring. He is a handsome, sturdy dog with a great profile outline. Nice head, eye and expression with a good width of jaw and correct cushioning. Moved well coming and going. Not in the best of coats today, although he was well presented and showed well for his handler.
2. Godbehere’s Charnell Kenji at Tillashby
Well balanced B&W dog, dainty and smaller throughout than 1. Attractive head and large dark eye, with just enough white showing, to create the desired look of astonishment. Moved well in both directions and again, not in the best coat at the moment, although texture and condition is correct.
3. Flynn’s Choya Kanayo of Linjato
Open Dog (6, 2 abs)
1. Davidson’s CH Hysterical Samurai Sou at Sharlarna
Beautiful, aristocratic looking, B&W dog, who was very well presented in full coat. Loved his size and shape and he feels as good as he looks when judging him on the table. He is very well balanced with good angulation which makes him glide around the ring with ease and style. Wonderful head shape and nose placement, with his eyes showing desired white, giving an
overall, exquisite expression. His well-presented, silky coat flows beautifully, as he went through his paces. Demanded the CC & BOB, and I could not deny him.
2. Rose’s Fralee Namakiki at Rossyn
Lovely headed B&W dog with excellent eye and great nose placement, creating a pleasing expression. Moved very well in both directions. Really liked his size and balance. Oozing personality plus, he is a great little show dog and a credit to his owner. I am sure his day will come.
3. Pearce & Hann’s Holmchin Secret Affair at Rakuchin
Good Citizen Dog (no entries)
Minor Puppy Bitch (5, 1 abs)
1. Davidson’s Sharlarna Betty Boo
Very nice B&W puppy bitch with lovely headpiece with good eye showing just enough white to give the look of astonishment. Nice cobby body, with well laid shoulder, level top line and good tail set. She was a bit of handful with over exuberance which meant she was just not so settled on the move. Should have a bright future.
2. Mowatt’s Asmena Fairy Wings
Another nice B&W puppy. Pleasing head and eye with pretty expression. Needs to settle on the move.
3. Whitehouse & Whitehouse’s Denain Sweet Jasmine
Puppy Bitch (3, 0 abs)
1. Pearce & Hann’s Yama Moonlight Over Rakuchin
A pretty puppy with a lovely head and expression. Fine boned and elegantly shaped. Lightly marked B&W with a lovely textured, silky coat coming through. Movement satisfactory, once she settled. Well presented.
2. Flynn’s Linjato Katsuki
Very nice B&W puppy, with a pleasing head and expression. Slightly longer cast than 1. Movement satisfactory, once settled.
3. Matches’ Godheim Charlotte at Fochai
Junior Bitch (10, 4 abs)
1. Robinson’s Midorchi Make Believe
Nice sized B&W bitch, who has a pleasing head and expression, with lovely cushioning and good width of underjaw. Movement was satisfactory, although front action could be better. Nicely marked coat
2. Lindsay & Pipe’s Sleepyhollow Mavis at Anjuli
Very pretty little B&W bitch with dark eyes and pleasing expression. She has a lovely coat which was well presented. Not as settled on the move. Her handler, most certainly, knows how to get the best out of her. Well presented.
3. Burden’s Sangria Celebration of Sheonagh
Yearling Bitch (2,1 abs)
1. Burden’s Sangria Etian of Sheonagh
Finely boned B&W bitch with a pretty head and expression. Nice cushioning and width of underjaw. Movement was ok, but she seemed reluctant to show herself off to her best advantage today. Would prefer her tail to be tighter over her back. Handled empathetically
Post Graduate Bitch (7, 4 abs)
1. Wallhead’s Choya Kinuko at Merida
Small, fine boned and slightly built, B&W bitch who oozes personality and style. Lovely eye and expression with excellent nose placement and open nostrils. Level top line good tail set. Unfortunately, had decided that she did not need to bring her coat with her today, but nevertheless, a lovely girl, who I am sure, once her coat grows back, will have a bright future.
2. Pearson’s Javalcy Stepin Out In Style with Ereste
B&W bitch who was unhappy on the table. Once on the ground, she settled and moved ok. Head piece is satisfactory, showing some white in the corner of the eyes to give the correct expression. Nice texture to her silky coat.
3. Burden’s Jalindri Kiseki Yurika
Limit Bitch (6, 0)
1. Rowley & Wallhead’s Fralee Elsie at Merida
There is a lot to like about this B&W bitch. She has a lovely head and pretty face and expression. Moved well in both directions. Unfortunately, she was lacking in coat today.
2. Burden’s Sangria Starlight
Nice B&W bitch, who moved and showed well. Headpiece satisfactory. Not in the best of coat at the moment.
3. Mowatt’s Asmena Hatsu
Open Bitch (11, 4 abs)
1. Bailey’s Asmena Tinkerbell at Aldoricka
B & W bitch who excels in shape with a level top line which she holds on the move. Correct fine bone. She has a pretty head, correct eye and good nose placement with excellent open nostrils. Lovely mover, both coming and going. Lovely coat of correct, silky texture. Bitch CC, which I believe is her third. She is a credit to her owner and breeder.
2. Lindsay & Pipe’s CH Sleepyhollw Sapphire Diva at Anjuli Sh. CM
B & W bitch who has an air of elegance about her. Nice skull, stop and wide underjaw which combine to give an overall satisfactory expression. Excellent coat of the correct texture. Very good mover both coming and going, but she excels in profile with her flowing coat and aristocratic elegance, she demands attention. Res CC.
3. Smith’s Amronchi Niina with Wyndcatch
